Synopsis
The film is about the human right of writing letters, the right of talk, the right of being heard. The Post Office must correspond with reliability – so that if you send a letter you could be sure that it reaches receiver. Post office seems to rule the man’s trust stream. The Post Office is a sophisticated system where each department must work properly. Every day in the meantime the post boxes are opening to report news, drivers rush in the districts of a city to deliver post, to be in time.

From the ancient times and till nowadays the post office routine work organization hasn’t gradually changed at all! The State Post Office in Saint-Petersburg – is probably the unique institution, which has not changed its principles of work and its main function in a 300 years period of existence. The quality and the quantity of the post delivery procedure mainly depends on the work of post sorters.

Erica – is a sorter of the Post Office. She has worked here for 20 years, just after finishing college of post services. She is 39 years old now. Her father works in The State Hermitage Museum. He restores the paintings of ancient painters. The destiny of the Hermitage is more tragic than destiny of the Post Office in Saint-Petersburg, as it was built as a permanent residence for the Russian Tsar Family – but later the building became a museum, so to say a warehouse for keeping multiple works of artists and sculptors. In the evenings – when the crowds of tourists stop wandering in the corridors – everything is getting silent – and the museum turns to be a warehouse for lonely pictures. But Erica’s father doesn’t care about this – he is occupied with his restoring works.

In the State Constitution of Russian Federation the issue of correspondence right is absent, but it seems to happen that people are deprived of this right. Sometimes they do it themselves, deliberately, when they don’t write letters to friends, colleagues and relatives, when they loose each other’s perception. Ability to write is the important part of our inner freedom. The heroes of the film – are those discreet people who provide the fulfillment of letter’s way and communication between us.
